Miguel Veloso
There are some sports that are well known throughout the world, and among those sports, there are fans that can be spotted all coming together over their favorite teams. Of all these internationally infamous sports, soccer is one that the entire world will come together throughout the season to not just root on their countries team, but their favorite players. It's a great time when the world comes together like this, and soccer is one of those sports that is responsible for this. Within the Genoa team, Miguel Veloso is one of those individuals that has put his heart and soul into the game to represent his team, and most of all, his country.
Born May 11th, 1986, Miguel Luis Pinto Veloso started his soccer career at an early age. In Coimbra, Portugal, started his game of soccer just like any other child does, playing outside with his friends and kicking a ball around. When he was old enough to join a soccer club, Miguel Velos was actually rejected for being overweight. As this would put down the confidence of any child, Veloso didn't let this stop him. After losing enough weight to be allowed to be on a team, the age of 14, he joined the Sporting Clube de Portugal's soccer team. Soon after his time on this team, improving his skill and continually pushing himself, his natural talent took care of the rest, which was quite obvious for his coaches to see. In result, they moved him through the ranks of teams to the first team in the 2004 2005 pre-season. His position for this time would be the central defender. It was no secret a person with Miguel Veloso playing talent needed to be expanded and gain a much bigger experience. He was lent out by his soccer club to the Clube Desportivo Olivais e Moscavide. During his time on this team, he quickly helped promote the club, as we all as himself, as his skills on the field carried him to making seven successful and notable goals. Although Veloso was gaining a great amount of experience, it still wasn't enough to be on the starting team with his original club, as they too had a number of experienced players, and were older as well. Champions League, Veloso shined brightly among those that would watch him play. Because of this attention, and being ranked in second among the league players, he was gaining the experience that would get him to where he wanted to be on teams. In very round about ways, Miguel Veloso would find himself playing for his original club, and making impressive goals and showcasing his talent for all to see. His skills couldn't go unnoticed by those who saw him play, because during the years of 2007 to 2010, he was spotlighted for making the most impressive goals against some of the most experienced players involved in his league. In the year of 2010, Veloso got the opportunity that he was waiting for. He was sold to the Genoa soccer team where he would gain all the experience that was needed to help push him even further in his career.
Looking through his scoring record, a person who understands and know how to read the stats for soccer players will find astonishing statistics for this 24 year old. With his overall years of experience and talent put together, his stats are chart topping. He currently is ranking the highest in strength on the field, followed by positioning, shooting, tackling, and creativity. With the videos that are displayed on the internet of some of Miguel Veloso's shots on goals, many find themselves watching jaw dropping footage. Going through his statistics, it can be observed that there are still some areas that he still needs to work on according to his coaches on the Genoa soccer team, such as diving, speed, passing, heading, and ball control. With the off season at hand, this is something that is definitely being worked on with countless drills and long practices. Because of his natural talent for the game, picking up the necessary skills and showing signs of improvement are all too obvious.
Miguel Veloso took a break during the year of 2009, and the latter parts of 2008 to work on skills and work on moving through the ranks of his career. His coach, Carlos Queiroz found himself calling back Veloso to play in the 2010 FIFA World Cup for a qualifying match. During their game with Malta, he is recorded for scoring his first international goal.
